Dennis Russell Davies 80th Birthday Keyboard Benefit Concert in San Francisco

Other Minds is excited to invite you to join us once again as we present Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies in a special concert featuring solo and piano four-hands performances. This event is in celebration of Davies’ 80th birthday and will take place at the McCarthy Art Studio in San Francisco’s Mission District on Friday, March 22, 2024. The venue details will be shared upon confirmation of your ticket. The performance, beginning at 8:00 pm, will be preceded by a delightful dessert reception at 7:00 pm, commemorating Davies’ significant birthday milestone.

In their fifth collaboration with Other Minds, the duo will present an engaging repertoire, featuring solo and four-hands pieces by renowned composers such as Maurice Ravel, Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass, and John Cage. Adding to the richness of the program is a piano four-hands arrangement, showcasing selections from the monumental work “Má vlast” (My Fatherland) by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, a series of symphonic poems composed between 1874 and 1879.
